AMBER

    • BMus (Hons)- Cardiff University

  • Amber is a South Welsh violinist who started learning the violin when she was nine. As a result of being accepted onto the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s Junior programme, she was rewarded her school’s Music and Drama Cup in 2014. It was at the RWCMD where she was invited to help beginner pupils with holding their bow and strumming their strings. After this, Amber led her school’s pit band before touring Italy with the Cardiff County and Vale of Glamorgan Youth Orchestra.

In 2016, she began her BMus (Hons) degree at Cardiff University. During her undergraduate studies, she worked towards her recitals with Terry Porteus (BBC NOW) in addition to receiving a masterclass with David Adams (WNO Orchestra Leader). Among countless ensembles, she led the Operatic Society’s orchestra before co leading the Symphony and String Orchestras in her final year. During orchestral rehearsals, Amber reassured non music students when they were fellow violinists.

Since graduating, Amber has repeatedly attended the Amadeus Academy Orchestra. Soon after pursuing her varied freelance career, she participated in a masterclass with Professor Richard Crabtree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

During the pandemic, she started to privately teach adult hobbyists alongside achieving her DipABRSM in Violin Performance (including a Merit in the recital).

In 2022, the Sidmouth Choral Society selected Amber for their Emerging Musician Programme. This allowed her to lead their orchestra as well as perform the solo in Vaughan Williams’s ‘The Lark Ascending’ during their spring concert.

Amber’s teaching goals have always been to encourage student development in a supportive and fun environment.
